Energy and Science - October 1, 2025, 7 pm
Our Ideas of Energy discussion series kicks off in the fall with Doris Segets

Dear friends of the Ideas of Energy discussion series,
After stimulating discussions on democracy, justice, and geopolitics, we are now turning our attention to the role of science in the energy transition—and we are delighted to invite you to the next event in our Ideas of Energy discussion series:
Energy and Science with Doris Segets, Professor of Process Engineering of Electrochemical Functional Materials at Universität Duisburg-Essen. What technologies do we need? What materials make them possible? And what role does scientific expertise play in political decision-making processes? Doris Segets will talk about the interfaces between research, industry, and politics—and discuss with us how science contributes to transformation.
We look forward to talking with you and examining key questions of the energy transition from a scientific perspective:
Date: Wednesday, October 1, 2025
