In her essay “A User’s Guide to the Mar-a-Lago Accord”, published in the Berlin Review (May 2025), Andrea Binder examines the political significance of the US dollar. Drawing on a proposal by US economist and government advisor Stephan Miran, who outlines a new dollar strategy in what he calls the Mar-a-Lago Accord, she explores the opportunities and limits this vision presents—and what it means for the global balance of power. The essay also raises the question of how Europe should respond to the geopolitical ambitions embedded in US monetary policy.
